Grade 9 checklist: build habits and explore
Grade 9 grades count toward college and scholarship applications. Just as important, this is the year to explore without pressure.
Academics
- Every grade from now on appears on your transcript. Ask for help early, not after a bad test.
- Learn active recall: close the book and write what you remember. It beats rereading.
Explore
- Join one or two activities and stay long enough to take on responsibility.
- Talk to three adults about their jobs. Ask what a normal day looks like.
- Start a small service project with a clear, measurable goal.
Summer
Use the summer for one thing that builds you: a job, a course, volunteering, or a project you finish.
