How to land an internship, step by step
Employers value internship experience more than almost anything else when comparing candidates. Treat the search like a project with weekly goals.
The system
- List 20 organizations you would like to learn from.
- Find one real person at each and send a short, personal message.
- Follow up once after a week.
- Track every message and reply.
If no internship comes yet
Offer a short project instead: research, a data clean-up, a social media plan or a process map for a local business or nonprofit. Deliver it well and ask for written feedback.
