Money rules where you live

The ideas are the same everywhere. Banks, credit reports and work rules differ, so here are the official sources for your country. Check the latest details on each official site.

🇺🇸 In the USA

Banks and savings

Deposits at FDIC-insured banks are protected up to $250,000 per depositor, per bank, per ownership category. Check fdic.gov for details.

Credit reports

Everyone can get free credit reports from AnnualCreditReport.com, the official site.

Teen work

Federal rules (U.S. Department of Labor, YouthRules) and your state’s rules set work ages, hours and jobs for under-18s.

Help and complaints

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (consumerfinance.gov) explains money products and takes complaints.

🇨🇦 In Canada

Banks and savings

Eligible deposits at CDIC member institutions are protected up to $100,000 per insured category. Check cdic.ca.

Credit reports

Equifax Canada and TransUnion Canada provide free credit reports to Canadians.

Teen work

Each province and territory sets its own minimum working age, hours and rules for young workers.

Help and complaints

The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) explains money products and your rights.

🇮🇳 In India

Amounts in rupees

Example amounts in this course are shown in rupees for India. They are practice numbers, chosen so the maths stays simple.

Banks and savings

Bank deposits are insured by DICGC (a Reserve Bank of India subsidiary) up to ₹5 lakh per depositor, per bank. Check dicgc.org.in.

Credit reports

RBI rules let every person get one free full credit report a year from each credit bureau (such as CIBIL).

UPI and payment safety

You never need to enter your UPI PIN to receive money. Never share your PIN or OTP with anyone.

Young people and work

Children under 14 may not be employed (except helping in a family business outside school hours), and adolescents aged 14–18 may not do hazardous work, under the Child and Adolescent Labour Act.

Help and complaints

The Reserve Bank of India’s financial-education pages and the RBI Ombudsman help consumers. Report unregulated deposit schemes on RBI’s Sachet portal.

How the course works

Six modules, one after another, from Needs & Wants to Careers. Each one builds on the last.

Why

Every money skill starts here. Children learn to tell needs from wants, see what each choice gives up, spot ads and pressure, wait before big wants, and plan, from a birthday ten-dollar note to a first paycheck.

When

Grades 1–12, in five levels: Sparks (1–2), Explorers (3–4), Builders (5–6), Leaders 1.0 (7–8) and Leaders 2.0 (9–12). Same value, age-right stories.

What

A 7–8 minute interactive lesson per value: an animated story, a puzzle, choices with realistic results, a fresh situation, a final challenge and a personal mission. Then a 10-question check.

Who

Students learn on their own or with a parent. Parents see progress in their Family Home. Teachers and mentors can use it with groups.

How

Every value needs 100% of its ten concepts before the next value opens. Missed ideas come back as fresh questions with explanations, as many times as needed. No timer, no rankings.

For parents

Ask one question after each lesson: “What would you try?” Celebrate the try, not just the result. If your child prefers not to share a real story, a made-up one counts. A perfect check shows understanding of the ideas. Everyday practice is what turns a value into a habit.
