12 conversations to have with your teen about the future
Almost all teens trust their parents' advice about the future, but fewer than half of parents are having those conversations. These prompts make it easier. One a month is enough.
Conversation starters
- What part of your day gives you the most energy?
- What is something you are proud of that no one noticed?
- If you could fix one problem in the world, what would it be?
- What do you think a good life looks like at 25?
- Which jobs around you look interesting? Which look boring?
- What would you try if you knew you could not fail?
- How do you decide when friends, family and the internet disagree?
- What do you want to learn that school does not teach?
- How much do you think it costs to live on your own?
- What helps you get back up after a setback?
- Who is someone you admire, and why?
- What is one step you could take this month toward something you want?
Tips
